Skye Commercial Photography and the Scallops of Skye
We really enjoy food photography. One of the many reasons for this is the renaissance in fine dining that is energising restaurants through out the West Highlands and especially the isle of Skye. There is an exciting and slightly competitive atmosphere. Chefs are creating some wonderful dishes that are a joy to photograph.
This being the West Highlands kitchens can rely on superb locally sourced seafood. Lobsters, prawns, crayfish, mussels and all sorts of white fish are available on our doorstep and are the basis of many a superb dish.
And then there is the scallop. It seems to me that every kitchen has it’s own unique signature scallop dish and each is a work of art. Some are simple, some complicated. All are a culinary delight.
I think that the reason for this is that scallops from Skye waters are the best. Sweet, succulent and undeniably fresh (I can say this with some certainty – I worked in the Scottish seafood industry for 15 years).
Here is a selection of fabulous scallop dishes from our photo shoots around the island
